The Ghana Premier League encounter between King Faisal and Accra Hearts of Oak has been postponed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which has found its way into the country.
The disease which was first recorded in China has spread across over 130 countries and has affected close to 600,000 persons while killing over 5,000 people.
Recently, Ghana recorded its first two meetings before the toll subsequently rose to 6. As a precautionary measure to keep everyone safe, the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that sporting activities have been suspended.
“Firstly, all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events, and religious events such as services in churches and mosques have been suspended for the next four weeks”, the president said in an address to the country on Sunday night.
In a statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), they have also confirmed that they are suspending this year's campaign in accordance with the directive from the government.
The two decisions mean that the match between King Faisal and Hearts of Oak scheduled to be played this afternoon has been postponed until the suspension is lifted.
In the meantime, the entire public is being charged to follow the precautionary measures put out by the WHO.
