Esso wanted only one year extension- Hearts communications head Opare Addo

Hearts of Oak communications head, Opare Addo, has revealed that Joseph Esso wanted just one year extension at the club whilst management wanted more.

Esso, along with four other players, were allowed to go by the club after their contracts expired, sending shock waves among the fans of the club.

Esso in particular, starred for the club before the season's cancellation and it was expected that he will be kept for a longer period.

"Joseph Esso opted for only one year contract extension contrary to what Hearts were requesting for.His demands caused our decision to part ways with him," he told Kumasi-based radio station, Sikka FM.

Esso joined Hearts from Ebusua Dwarfs in 2017.

He has been linked with a move to Ashanti Gold and Kotoko.
