Former Hearts of Oak captain Yaw Amankwah Mireku has stated that he was stopped when attempting to switch allegiances to rivals Kotoko after his contract expired.
In a startling revelation, Mireku disclosed the obstacles he encountered in pursuing a new chapter in his career, shedding light on the intense rivalry that exists between the two Ghanaian football giants.
"That is 2002 Herbert Mensah's time there was some conversation but I went to the US. My contract had expired so it was bound to renewal but management didn't agree with my demands," he told Ernest Brew Smith TV.
"Then I said let me go to US and return so they heard I have traveled there was some communication going on. When I returned I was going to play for Kotoko there was a deal but it had to be executed so when I came that was what we were going to do,"
"When I returned there were one or two calls Hearts also heard that I have arrived. I was there and Ato Ahwoi called me he told me to come and meet him and that was it,"
