Former Dreams FC goalkeeper, Lord Bawa Martey, has disclosed how he lost his girlfriend to a man who could meet her financial expectations.

Martey, who recently concluded his stint with Dreams FC, recounted the events during an interview with Saddick Adams of Angel TV.

According to Martey, the initial stages of his relationship were characterized by excitement from his girlfriend, who was captivated by his celebrity status.

However, as time went on, the strain of financial limitations became apparent, ultimately leading to the relationship's demise.

"Someone simply snatched my girlfriend. She left me because of money. In the beginning, she was all cool because of the publicity I was getting but publicity wasn’t enough to keep her.

"She complained a lot and I was always giving excuses about bad salaries so when a rich man came she left. I don’t fault her," Martey explained.

Martey, who had been part of the Dreams FC roster, is currently without a club after failing to secure an extension with the team.

“It’s not easy having a girlfriend in this setting. We are often accused of being womanizers but it's not true.

"Assuming I’m playing for a team in Tamale and I’m on a GH₵500 a month salary and by grace, I get to date a waakye seller who gifts me waakye for free, I will have to work for it," he added.
