Black Queens head coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo says the 2020 Total Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) should be postponed due to coronavirus pandemic.

The 12th edition of the continental women's showpiece is slated for November 23 to December 20 this year.

According to the 46-year-old, the tournament should be rescheduled to a later date where it is safe to play football again.

"Looking at how the world has suffered from the pandemic it will be difficult to hold the AWCON.

"My girls are psychologically shaken by the pandemic and the situation keeps getting worse," she said on Happy 98.9 FM’s ‘Happy Sports’ show.

"The girls even fear to visit their friends to even talk about getting them to camps for training."

The pandemic has led to the suspension of all football activities since mid-March a part of measures to help curb the spread of the virus.
