The Black Queens of Ghana face a tough test in the first round of the qualifiers to the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) tournament after being drawn against Nigeria.

CAF on Monday held a draw for the women’s qualifiers for upcoming continental and global tournaments.

At the draw, Ghana has been paired with giants Nigeria for the preliminary round of the qualifiers to the next AWCON tournament.

With both teams from the WAFU Zone B, one of Ghana and Nigeria now look set to miss the 2022 AWCON.

Following a poor showing at the 2018 AWCON, the Black Queens were hoping to make it to the next tournament to make amends.

The team now needs to prepare very well and hope to upset their Nigerian rivals to have any chance of making it to the 2022 AWCON.

In the scheduled qualifiers, 45 member associations will compete to earn spots at the tournament set to be hosted in Morocco.
