Former Eleven Wise and Okwawu United head coach, Nana Kwaku Agyemang, has criticized the current Black Stars squad, branding them as 'scammers' lacking the dedication required to play for the national team.

Agyemang's remarks follow the team's disappointing performance against Mozambique in the final Group B match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday night.

Despite initially securing a 2-0 lead with Jordan Ayew's successful penalty kicks in both halves, the Black Stars faltered in the closing minutes.

The team conceded two late goals, one from a penalty resulting from an Andre Ayew handball in the 91st minute, and another from Reinildo following a corner, where goalkeeper Richard Ofori made a surprising error.

The defeat places Ghana on the verge of a consecutive group-stage exit at the AFCON, having only garnered two points. Speaking on Joy News post-match, Nana Agyemang attributed the team's struggles to the leadership of the Ghana Football Administration (GFA), criticizing them for incompetence.

Agyemang argued, "The football people are as incompetent as the technical team of this Ghana Black Stars because they don't know what they are doing."

He further criticized the GFA, stating, "Football, they [GFA] need to be told, is not run by people who claim to be football people. You look at the GFA, they are running the whole thing into the ground. That is what they are doing."

Expressing disappointment in the current players, he emphasized that they lack the dedication and attitude exhibited by the Ghanaian teams assembled between 2004 and 2015. Agyemang lamented, "We will never get a team right now that is anything like the 2006 team with the Appiahs, Laryea Kingston, Muntaris, and the like. Those boys were dedicated. They were real patriots."

He concluded by suggesting that even a group of local players could outperform the current squad, characterizing them as "scammers."

The Black Stars have failed to secure a victory in their last two AFCON appearances, suffering three losses and securing three draws.
