2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Ghana coach Chris Hughton takes responsibility for Black Stars disastrous performance at tournament

Ghana coach Chris Hughton is not singling out any member of his team for blame following their disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars threw away a two-goal lead in dramatic circumstances as they drew with Mozambique in six minutes of additional time. Jordan Ayew's brace were cancelled by Geny Catamo and Reinildo Mandava.

The four-time African champions face another early AFCON exit, depending on the result from other groups.

Ofori, who was in post for the Black Stars has been criticized by top football pundits as his mistake led to the Mozambique’s equalizer.

After the game, the former Premier League manager botched to blame any member of his team after stalemate against Mozambique.

“As regards to Richard Ofori, this is a goalkeeper that in the three games we played, he made important saves. This is a judgement always by myself as head coach, I take responsibility” he said.

Ghana drew two games at the Nations Cup, finishing in third place in Group B, behind Cape Verde and Egypt.
