Head Coach Yussif Basigi addressed the media in anticipation of the Black Princesses' inaugural match against Ethiopia.

Basigi exuded confidence, expressing that his team faces no undue pressure as they gear up for the African Games. Drawing on past successes, he highlighted their triumph at the WAFU tournament hosted last year, asserting their familiarity with the demands of playing on home turf.

"We're hosting the All-African Games, but that doesn't faze us," Basigi affirmed. "Our preparations have been extensive, including a training stint at Clairefontaine in France following our last qualifier against Senegal."

Acknowledging the inevitable challenges, Basigi emphasized the importance of adeptly managing both on and off-field issues to uphold team morale. Familiar with Ethiopia's playing style from previous encounters during his tenure with the Black Queens, he cautioned against underestimating any opponent in the upcoming tournament.

"Hosting certainly offers advantages, but it doesn't guarantee victory," Basigi cautioned. "We're here to make the most of our home advantage, but we're fully aware that diligent preparation is key."

Reflecting on his prior championship win with the Black Queens in Congo, Basigi underscored his familiarity with the rigors of tournament play. Despite one injury concern, he expressed confidence in the depth of the squad, assuring that contingencies were in place to mitigate any absence.

The Black Princesses are set to commence their journey against Ethiopia at 8 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
