2023 U23 AFCON: Ibrahim Tanko makes three changes as Ibrahim Danlad captains Black Meteors against Morocco

Published on: 27 June 2023

The Head Coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko, has announced the starting lineup for their second Group A match of the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against host nation Morocco.

The game is set to take place at the prestigious Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Following their triumphant 3-2 victory over Congo in the opening match on Sunday, Tanko has made three alterations to the team in a bid to secure another crucial win.

Asante Kotoko's outstanding shot stopper, Ibrahim Danlad, has rightfully retained his position between the goalposts.

With the backline, Aaron Essel earned a starting role on the right, while Edmond Arko-Mensah takes charge on the left. Meanwhile, Terry Yegbe and David Oppong will continue to showcase their defensive prowess as they hold onto their positions as the center-back duo.

In the midfield, Dominic Nsobila has been granted a starting position in the defensive midfield role.

Joining him will be Hafiz Ibrahim and Salim Adams, two new faces. This new midfield trio replaces Emmanuel Essiam and Sylvester Simba from the previous match.

Upfront, the dynamic striker Emmanuel Yeboah, who showcased his goal-scoring prowess by netting two goals in the opening game, has secured a spot in the starting lineup.

He will spearhead the attack, playing ahead of the team's skipper, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

Completing the attacking lineup are Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Ernest Nuamah, who are set to provide support and creativity in the final third.
