2024 UWW: Black Princesses Assistant Coach confident of advancing from group stage

Black Princesses Assistant Coach Anita Wiredu-Minta is confident the team advance from the group stage of the upcoming 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup to be hosted in Colombia.

Ghana's qualification marks their seventh consecutive appearance at this level, placing them among four African nations competing in the tournament.

Historically, Ghana has struggled to progress beyond the group stage in their six previous attempts from 2012 to 2022.

Ahead of the start of the tournament on August 31, Wiredu-Minta believes the team can make history.

“This one, it's like a goal for the whole team to get past the group stage, to break that jinx, that record, to make a record,” she told the GFA.

“And that is what we've put in all in the preparations, not just to go and participate, but to go and then break that record, get out of the group stage, make an impact in the World Cup.

“It puts a little pressure on us. I see it as a good form of a challenge for us to get past the group stage.”
