Ghana remains temporarily top of the Group I standings of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This follows a goalless stalemate between Madagascar and Mali on Tuesday afternoon.

In that game played at the FNB Stadium in South Africa, neither side could find the back of the net.

Although Madagascar had to play most parts of the game with 10 men due to a red card to Louis Demoleon, the side managed to defend well to stay in the game and earn one point at full-time.

After the game, Ghana sits top of Group I with 9 points while Madagascar follows in second with 7 points.

Comoros sits in third with six points and could go top with a win over Chad later in the evening.

As things stand, Mali and the Central African Republic will follow Madagascar closely on the Group I standings while Chad stays bottom of the pile.
