Absence of McCarthy and Nkrumah won’t affect us – Ashgold coach Ricardo Da Rocha

Head Coach for Obuasi Ashanti Gold, Ricardo Da Rocha has disclosed that the absence of top players Appiah McCarthy and Amos Nkrumah will not affect his side when they face Equatorial Guinea side Akonangui FC on Saturday.

The Ghana Premier League side is one of two clubs that will be representing the West African country in the upcoming edition of CAF’s inter-club competitions.

The Miners are set to play as guests to Akonangui FC in the preliminary stage of the CAF Confederations Cup in a tough match that will be played at over the weekend.

Ahead of the match, Appiah McCarthy and Amos Nkrumah who are key players for the Obuasi based side have picked up injuries and will have to sit out in the first leg of the match.

Nonetheless, Coach Ricardo Da Rocha is confident that the absence of the two players will not affect his side on the match day.

“With the absence of Appiah McCarthy and Amos Nkrumah, I don't think it is going to affect us that much because we have unity in our squad and every player plays for the other”, the Brazilian tactician said.

He further shared that Ashgold will put up a good performance to ensure they bring a good result back home from the trip.

“We are representing people of Obuasi and the people of Ghana at large, we are going to give our best in trying to bring a good result home”, he said.

The match will be played at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
