Ghana Premier League side Aduana Stars have acknowledged receipt of some $5,000 from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from the sponsorship money from StarTimes to help the club through the Coronavirus (COVID-19) storm.

All clubs in the country, just like in other jurisdictions in other parts of the world where football activities have been suspended are going through financial difficulties with their main source of income which is from gate proceeds currently locked.

In a bid to support clubs through this period, the Ghana FA has paid $5,000 of the $30,000 expected to be given to Premier League clubs this season to the clubs.

Speaking to West FM, Communications Director for Aduana Stars, Oppong Evans has confirmed that they have received their share of the money.

“Yes, Aduana Stars have received $5000 from the FA. The money is not enough because even we (Aduana) spend more than $ 5000 in a single match”, he said.

He further noted that Aduana Stars just like all the other Ghana Premier League clubs are suffering and hence they appeal to the GFA to make efforts to settle at least half of the money they are to get from the sponsorship money.
