Aduana Stars target second place after falling short in pursuit of Ghana Premier League title

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Aduana Stars, Evans Oppong says his outfit target is to finish second after falling short in pursuit of the Ghana Premier League title.

The Ogya boys were in pole position to annex their third Ghana Premier League title but a dip in form in the course of the season has derailed their title ambition hopes.

The two-time GPL winners has dropped to the 3rd position on the league standings with a game to end the season.

Aduana Stars can leapfrog Bechem United if they are able to beat them in the final round of the top-flight on Sunday.

In an interview with Kessben FM, Evans Oppong explained the importance of finishing second in the league to the Dormaa-based club and has therefore vowed to defeat Bechem United at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park.

“It will be prudent for us to finish in a good position after losing the league title. Our fans are demanding and aside winning the league, nothing impresses them. They are always looking forward to winning the league”

“A lot of the fans are disappointed and discouraged now but we as a club, management, and technical team have to fight for pride and finish in a respectable position. We are not happy but at least finishing second won’t be bad at all”

“Going into our game against Bechem United, the mentality is win and nothing else so we can finish second at the end of the season. Aside the position, we are also looking at the financial package involved, you are able to get good money being second than finishing in the third or fourth position, so we are not taking the game lightly on Sunday” he said.
