Asamoah set for September return

Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah has scheduled his return date to the fold of the Black Stars to September.

The talented wing-back has been out of the Black Stars since 2014 due to personal reasons but he is now ready to feature again and could play his first game in September after his four years self-imposed exile.

“Honestly speaking I will be back to the national team, “Asamoah told Citi Sports.

“Although I’ve been speaking, I will come back to the national team for a year or two, I was looking for the right time. I always talk to the coach and even the previous ones we had about my return,”

“I spoke to coach Kwesi Appiah, a month ago. He called me for the recent friendlies but unfortunately, I told him I had some personal issues I had to fix before joining the Black Stars. So, I pleaded with him and he understood because this is the moment that I needed to sort issues out since the season is over. And these games were just friendlies,”

“For the national team, it’s not like I’ve quit. I’m telling you I will be with the national team soon. Yeah, I will be back in September for the AFCON qualifiers and beyond,”

Ghana will play as guest to the Harambee Stars of Kenya at the Moi International Sports Stadium in Nairobi in a 2019 AFCON qualifier on September 7.
