Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has expressed confidence in his team's ability to replace injured key players Richmond Lamptey and Sheriff Mohammed ahead of their crucial match against league leaders Samartex.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to face Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium on week 27 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko has been struggling in recent games, having not won any of their last five matches in the league. They have lost four and drawn one, leaving them in a difficult position as they prepare to face the league leaders.

Speaking to Opemsuo Radio, Ogum acknowledged the importance of Lamptey and Mohammed to the team but stressed that other players in the squad can step up and fill their roles.

"Of course, it will get an effect if you look at these two players Richmond Lamptey and Mohammed Sheriff these players are key players Richmond Lamptey is an offensive midfielder he is a very good passer of the ball he can locate the space," he said.

"Sheriff Mohammed as we all know very robust defensive midfielder he can win balls win tackles and he can connect with teammates but these two players are not there but yes they are not there we have equally good players in midfield the likes of Rocky Dwamena, Ntim Manu, Zeze, Shadrack Addo and co they are there.

"So what we have to do is we need to map a very good tactical approach to contain them when we don't have the ball and when we have the ball too we can outwit them,"
