Asante Kotoko lacks leadership- Gabriel Opoku Ware insists

Former Asante Kotoko defender Gabriel Opoku Ware says the current squad lacks leadership on the field of play, hence the team’s unimpressive performance.

The Porcupine Warriors has been dismal in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign. Their current poor run of form includes just two victories in 10 matches, leaving Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side in 10th place on the league table with 36 points, only five above the relegation zone.

Speaking to Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com, Opoku Ware said the team must have a leader on the field who can control the team during matchdays.

“The players are doing well but on the field of play, you could see the team lacks leadership. Kotoko has a young squad. So I think there should an experience player who can control the team during matchdays”

“Some of us were young when we joined Kotoko but it took the experience players in there to help us settle well. Going forward, I think they should consider it” he said.

Asante Kotoko faces a daunting task against Medeama in matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League this weekend.

The Porcupine Warriors will travel to take on the Yellow and Mauve on Saturday afternoon at the Tarkwa Akoon Community Park.
