Betting still exist in Ghana football – Ashantigold President Dr Kwaku Frimpong

Ashantigold President Dr Kwaku Frimpong has insisted betting remains in the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions.

Ashantigold were demoted to the Division Two League after being found guilty of match manipulation in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Matchday 34 game against Inter Allies.

Dr. Frimpong, and other officials as well Players who participated in the game received hefty sanctions from the Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee.

Despite receiving severe punishment from the Ghana FA, Kwaku Frimpong insists betting still exist in the Ghanaian game.

“I don’t stake bet. The people who are involved in betting know themselves. There are gurus who stake bets on a regular. Mine was just a hatred. Everyone knows betting is still going on” he said.

As part of the revival plans, Frimpong has hinted new management are expected to take over the club.

“We have sat down with Anglo Gold Ashanti and have agreed on giving the team to another management to spearhead the rival of the club. We are currently negotiating and doing all the paperwork for a successful takeover." He said.
