Ghana’s U-20 women’s team will continue their quest for qualification to the 2021 FIFA Women’s World Cup in October, the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has confirmed.

The qualifiers which took shape at the beginning of the year had to be put on hold as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

In the last hurdle, the Ghana team nicknamed the Black Maidens defeated their counterpart from Liberia with an aggregate score of 10-0.

For their next opponent, the side was paired against the Nigeria U-17 team after they had also beaten Guinea with an aggregate score of 11-2.

That crucial encounter between Ghana u-17 and the Nigeria u-17 was scheduled to be played in May but as a result of the Covid-19, CAF had to postpone it.

With the FIFA U-17 World Cup pushed to next year from February 17 to March 7, 2021, CAF has also announced new dates for the completion of the qualifiers.

Below is the date for the final round of qualifiers:

1st Leg: 30, 31/Oct. or 1/Nov./2020

2nd Leg: 19, 20 or 21/Nov./2020

Ghana’s Black Maidens will hope to adequately prepare for the clash with Nigeria in order to be able to secure qualification to next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup expected to be hosted in India.
