Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe made her debut for Sky Blue FC in the goalless draw against OL Reign on Wednesday during the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Challenge Cup.

Cudjoe climbed off the bench in the 61st minute to replace Domi Richardson at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman as she helped her side secure a vital point.

The game was one of the first matches of the inaugural National Women’s Soccer League, and all the 8 teams are poised for the ultimate – making history with the maiden season.

Sky Blue and the Reign both split their time with the ball in the first half, having 48% and 52% of the possession respectively.

The team’s best chance of the match came just before halftime when Nahomi Kawasumi broke through off a cross from Sabrina Flores, but her shot was ultimately blocked by the sliding Reign defender.

Both teams failed to find the breakthrough as they shared the spoils.

Sky Blue will now shift their focus to their second preliminary round matchup on Saturday, July 4 against Utah Royals FC.

After the game, a delighted Cudjoe expressed her excitement after making her competitive appearance for the club.

"Today we played amazingly well and since preseason this is how we have been playing", the 26-year-old told ghanasportspage.com.

"The next game is on Saturday and I’m expecting another good performance and a win too", she hoped.
