Black Starlets in high spirit despite non-payment of qualification bonus

Head Coach of Ghana’s U17 team Paa Kwesi Fabin says his lads are in good spirits despite not receiving their qualification bonus for the Africa Youth Championship.

The Black Starlets defeated the young elephants of Cote d’Ivoire with a 3-1 aggregate score line last weekend to book their place at the CAF U-17 Championship to be held in Madagascar.

Ghana prior to that, had accounted for Burkina Faso in the previous round on a 5-4 aggregate score line with virtually no support from the Sports Ministry during months of camping.

The lads were expecting to receive their qualification bonus right after the win over the Ivoirians but did not happen due to the “no money” syndrome from the Sports nimistry.

Despite the unfortunate development, Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin insists his players are not too distracted by this. “Well, I don’t know what will happen to the boys but then we made them aware that even though we’ve qualified it will take some time before the get their monies,” he told Prince Tagoe of FootballMadeInGhana.com. “So they should not rely too much on it but definitely, it will come. Maybe, it will not come as early as we expect it. “So we have psyched them up and we’re ready, we know that it can happen.”

Paa Kwesi Fabian failed to qualify his team for the previous tournament but has quickly made amends after his current crop of players helped him achieve his goal.

Football (Soccer) is a BIG MONEY GAME in the world. True or False??? Every country must play to that. It is a GLOBAL FORCE. It takes more than childish withdrawal of funding Ghana football to create fund for the lesser known sports. Ghana cannot go global with this stupid thinking. This "No money syndrome" is a Nii Lante created mantra. It is senseless and can kill Ghana football in a matter of months. Please remove Nii Lante from the Sport ministry before its too late..
