Brazil Legend Wishes He Could Have Scored Iconic Barcelona Goal for Real Madrid Instead

Brazil legend Ronaldo has risked antagonising Barcelona fans after admitting that he would have preferred an iconic goal he scored in their colours to have come during his time at fierce rivals Real Madrid instead.

Speaking to Movistar + about the solo strike he netted against SD Compostela back in 1996 when he was still an emerging star, the current Fort Lauderdale Strikers appeared to place higher value on his time in the capital than in Catalunya.

"It was a lovely goal, but the truth is I would have preferred to score it with Real Madrid. The only pity is that I was not at Madrid when I scored it," he said.

Ronaldo spent just a single season at Camp Nou under the management of English coach Sir Bobby Robson, winning the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, as well as scoring an incredible 47 goals in all competitions.

That prompted a world record move to Inter in the summer of 1997, before he eventually made his way to Real Madrid in 2002 after recovering from devastating career threatening injuries and enjoying something of a resurrection at the World Cup in Japan/South Korea.

The superstar stayed much longer at the Bernabeu, scoring prolifically in his first four seasons until injury and general fitness problems began to mount up once more in 2006.
