Business Development Manager of FC Samartex, Paul Anyaba says they will consider their CAF Champions League campaign a "success" if they qualify for the group stages.

The Ghana Premier League champions will make their debut appearance in the CAF elite competition.

The Samreboi-based side will face Cameroonian side, Victoria FC in the first leg of the preliminary round of games.

"If we get to the group stages, it will be deemed as a very successful campaign not only for the club but for Ghana. We are pushing and eyeing to get to the group stages,” Anyaba told JoySports.

“With Victoria and having run some investigations on the team and their performances, we feel that we are going into our debut season into the CAF Champions League but we have what it takes to eliminate them and get to the final preliminary round.

“We [Samartex] are mindful of the fact that if we are able to eliminate Victoria, we are meeting Raja. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross," Nyaba added.

The game will be staged at the Japoma Stadium on Sunday, August 18 with the second leg scheduled to be staged at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 25.

The winner of the tie will face Niger’s AS GNN and Raja Casablanca of Morocco in the second round.
