CAF Confed Cup: Kjetil Zachariassen happy to see Ashgold advance to second round
Head coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kjetil Zachariassen has revealed that he is elated to see Obuasi Ashanti Gold advance to the second round of the 2019/2020 CAF Confederations Cup.
Nicknamed the Miners, the Ghana Premier League side has successfully eliminated Equatorial Guinea club Akonangui FC from the preliminary stage of the competition.
They played a 1-1 draw with the side when they visited them but whipped them 3-0 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium last Saturday. The huge win sees them progressing to the next round courtesy a 4-1 aggregate win.
Speaking in an interview on the back of Ashgold’s success, Kjetil Zachariassen who is a formal coach of the club applauded the success of the team whiles indicating that they deserved to win.
“I was with them on Friday and I encouraged them so I am very happy with it (the result). They are a good squad and they won. It was quite fair, the result, the Norwegian gaffer shared.
Ashanti Gold is now expected to face Moroccan side RSB Bekane in the next phase of the CAF Confederations Cup.
