CAF Confederation Cup: Ghana FA boss Kurt Okraku praises Dreams FC despite semifinals exit

Published on: 29 April 2024

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku has showered praise on Dreams FC for the remarkable achievement in their maiden CAF Confederation Cup participation despite missing out on the finals.

Having returned from Egypt after a goalless draw in the first leg, the Still Believe lads went into the return leg in Kumasi with the advantage but things fell apart after succumbing to a 3-0 defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Goals from Hamza Mathlouthi, Samson Akinyoola and Mostafa Shalaby were enough for the 2019 Champions to secure qualification to the finals of the competition.

“STIIIILLLLLLLLLL believe guys. You guys gave your best on this journey. Unfortunately, you could not make the final round but be proud that you invested 100million% towards this challenge”

“Again, even though you did not win the trophy, you still managed to write your names in history...semis on your first attempt after 20 years by any Ghanaian club.......

Perhaps this is the start of a major story to be told of this club. We are grateful for what has been collectively achieved” he wrote on social media

Dreams FC will now switch their attention to the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup, where they have reached the semi-final. The FA Cup holders could return to Africa if they successfully defend their title.
