The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has reached a verdict in the case involving Fédération Camerounaise de Football (FECAFOOT) President, Samuel Eto'o.

The former Cameroonian football star was under scrutiny for alleged match manipulation and breaches of ethical and integrity principles.

Last month, Mr. Eto'o was called to appear before a hearing in Egypt, following corruption allegations leveled against him. However, after a thorough investigation, the Disciplinary Board announced that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the match manipulation claims against Mr. Eto'o and another individual, Mr. Valentin Nkwain.

Despite the lack of evidence for match manipulation, the Disciplinary Board found Mr. Eto'o guilty of a serious violation of the principles of ethics, integrity, and sportsmanship as outlined in Article 2 paragraph 3 of the CAF Statutes. The violation was related to Mr. Eto'o signing a Brand Ambassador contract with the betting company 1XBET in exchange for remuneration.

As a consequence of this violation, the CAF Disciplinary Board has imposed a fine of 200,000 USD on Mr. Eto'o.
