Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex on Wednesday, July 24 presented their trophy to the leadership of Parliament.

The Timber Giants were crowned champions of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League under Nurudeen Amadu as head coach.

By virtue of this historic achievement, Samartex will represent the country in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.

The delegation to Parliament was led by the Paramount Chief of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, Club President, Dr. Richard Duah Nsenkyire and Hon. Eric Afful, Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi West.

Other top officials of the club like the General Manager, Edmund Ackah and the Business Development Manager, Paul Kwasi Anyaba also graced the occasion.

Club President, Dr. Richard Nsenkyire donated replica jerseys and other club paraphernalia to the leadership of Ghana's legislature.

With an overwhelming sense of pride and jubilation, the team expressed their deep gratitude to the Parliament's leadership for the privilege of presenting them with the prestigious league trophy.

On behalf of the Members of Parliament, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin extended heartfelt congratulations to the team for their historic victory recognised their exceptional efforts and promised the team his full support as the team prepares for the CAF Champions League.

Samartex, who are currently having their pre-season in the Eastern Region will clash with Cameroonian side, Victoria United in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on August 16 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium before the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 23.
