Head coach for the Black Maidens, Coach Baba Nuhu has shared that he is elated the team will have time to train as a group before taking on their Nigerian counterpart in the qualifiers to the U-17 FIFA World Cup.

The two West African sides were supposed to clash in the final round of the qualifiers to the next edition of the female youth tournament but the date had to be pushed forward as a result of the Coronavirus crisis.

After months of inactive football in Ghana, the government has finally given the clear for the Black Maidens to start camping to prepare for their upcoming assignment.

Speaking to the Communications team of the Ghana FA, Coach Baba Nuhu says he is happy President Nana Addo has given his team the green light to train amidst the Coronavirus crisis.

“I am so happy and glad that the President has given us the green light to start camping towards our last hurdle. I gave out several exercises during the restriction period to all the players who were in camp before the break.

“My technical team and I did this in bid to keep them active. I am glad that now we can group together as a team to fine-tune our preparations”, the coach said.

The Black Maidens will take on the Flamingos of Nigeria in September in a two-legged encounter. The winner will qualify for the next FIFA U17 World Cup tournament.
