Coach Kwasi Appiah lauds governmentbsupport for football

Head coach of the senior national team, James Kwesi Appiah has applauded the involvement of the government of Ghana in football.

On Wednesday, the government released a statement confirming its support for Asante Kotoko in Africa inter-club competition.

The government in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports set aside $200,000 and $150,000 for CAF Champions league participant and CAF Confederation Cup participants respectively.

The amount is set to be offered to the clubs that qualifies to the group stage of the competition.

Former ex-Black Star captain says the government has done greatly well for taking such a bold step to support Ghanaian clubs since the game positively sells the country.

“Government has done very well for involving themselves in football. The game really sells Ghana to the World".

"Should Asante Kotoko win the CAF Confederations Cup ,they will be representing Africa at the World club Championship and that will sell Ghana a lot", he said in an interview with Oyerapa FM.

James Kwesi Appiah continued, "It is a step in the right direction, it will also motivate our clubs to up their game when partaking in the competition".
