'Current Black Meteors squad can win World Cup for Ghana' - Zubairu Ibrahim
Ghana U23 forward Zubairu Ibrahim has claimed the current Black Meteors squad that crashed out of the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) can win the FIFA World Cup for Ghana in the near future.
The former King Faisal attacker believes that the quality in the team is good enough and when promoted to the senior national team, they are capable of winning the Mundial for Ghana.
The Black Meteors finished bottom of their group at the U23 AFCON in Morocco. They needed a draw in their final group game to qualify but they could not beat Guinea.
"We aimed winning the U23 Afcon and possibly qualify Ghana to the Olympics game but unfortunately our desire couldn't materialize," he told Akoma FM.
"With the quality we have in the team and proper long term planning, I'm very confident that we can even win the world cup for Ghana some years to come.
"I will appeal to Ghanaians to forgive us and support the team going forward wholeheartedly."
