Dreams FC knocked out of CAF Confederation Cup after defeat to Zamalek
Ghanaian side Dreams FC's dreams of advancing in the CAF Confederation Cup were shattered on Sunday as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Zamalek SC in the second leg of their semifinal tie at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Zamalek's victory came after a goalless draw in Cairo, effectively ending Dreams FC's journey in the competition. The match started with an unfortunate mistake from Dreams FC, allowing Hamza Mathlouthi to score the opening goal in the 12th minute from a set piece.
Fifteen minutes later, Samson Akinyoola doubled the lead for Zamalek, increasing the pressure on the home side. Despite creating some promising chances, Dreams FC failed to convert their opportunities, and Zamalek went into halftime with a comfortable advantage.
Hoping for a better performance in the second half, Karim Zito's men took to the field with determination. However, their efforts were in vain as Mostafa Shalaby scored in the 60th minute, extending Zamalek's lead to three goals.
Although Dreams FC made a late push to find a consolation goal in front of their home crowd, they were unable to breach Zamalek's defense. With this defeat, Dreams FC's impressive run in the CAF Confederation Cup came to an end, and Zamalek advanced to the final.
