Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo says getting nominated for the English Premier League Player of the Month Award indicates that he has been working hard.

The 24-year-old earned a nomination in March but lost the award to Fulham striker, Rodrigo Muniz.

He said this in an extensive interview with Premier League TV where he touched on his rise from non-league football in England to the top division and added how implementing parts of football legend Didier Drogba’s game has aided his development.

“I just remember sitting back smiling like wow, who would have thought I’d be getting nominated for player of the month," he said.

"It just shows that I am working hard, I am getting that recognition which is nice like even if I don’t win, I feel like the nomination in itself is an achievement for myself and just to have that mentality to keep going," he added.

Antoine Semenyo is expected to feature in Bournemouth’s final game of the season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, May 19.

Meanwhile, he is expected to be named in Ghana's squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic in June.
