Ex-Ghana teenage sensation Ransford Osei retires from football
Former Ghana U-17 poster boy, Ransford Osei has announced that he has retired from football.
Born December 5, 1990, the attacker in his teenage days had talent in abundance and excelled on the field of play while bringing joy to Ghanaians with his skill and intelligence on the ball.
At the 2009 African Youth Championship, he had a successful tournament and finished as the top scorer of the tournament.
Progressing to the U-20 side of Ghana known as the Black Satellites, Ransford Osei equally made a name for himself and earned a move to Europe where he played for clubs including Granada and FC Twente.
At age 30, Ransford Osei has decided that it is time to hang his boots and has confirmed in an interview with Humble Ike on his YouTube channel that he has retired.
Looking back at his talent and the prospect he displayed as a teenager, many Ghanaians continue to describe Ransford Osei’s inability to command global stardom as unfortunate.
He was an integral member of the Black Starlets team that finished 4th at the FIFA U17 World Cup that was held in South Korea.
At that tournament, the forward finished as the second top scorer with six goals.
In the past, he had stints with Kessben FC [now Medeama SC], Berekum Chelsea, as well as Asante Kotoko.
