Exclusive: Tema Youth grab 2.2 Million Euros from sale of Paintsil

Published on: 11 June 2018

Ghana National Division One side Tema Youth will get an amount of 2.2 million Euros from the sale of Joseph Paintsil to Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk.

Footballmadeinghana.com can exclusively reveal that Tema Youth did not sell Paintsil outright to Ferencvárosi as it was a one-year loan deal with the Hungarian club forgetting to add a first option buy clause to the loan deal.

Paintsil was arguably the best player in the Hungarian League scoring ten goals and providing seven assists in 27 games for Ferencvárosi who finished the season in second position.

The 20-year-old caught the eyes of various clubs including German side FC Cologne who were keen in having him as they seek an early return to the Bundesliga but Tema Youth bankroller Wilfred Osei Palmer prefered Genk.

The owner of Tema Youth has also secured a partnership deal with Genk as part of the deal and he will able to sell players to the Belgian side.
