FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC to pocket $50,000 each in preliminary round of games of CAF inter-club competitions

Ghanaian football clubs, FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC, are set to receive $50,000 each as they enter the preliminary round of the CAF inter-club competitions.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has introduced this financial support to assist clubs competing in the early stages of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.

This initiative aligns with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s goal of enhancing African club competitions by providing financial benefits to a broader range of teams, not just those that reach the group stages. Previously, only teams advancing to the group stages were eligible for monetary rewards.

This new policy is expected to motivate more clubs to participate in continental tournaments, thereby elevating the overall standard of football across Africa.

In recent years, CAF has significantly boosted its investment in African club football. The champions of the CAF Champions League now receive $4 million, while the winners of the CAF Confederation Cup are awarded $2 million.

This ongoing financial commitment underscores CAF's dedication to promoting growth and competitiveness in African football, ensuring that clubs at all levels have the resources needed to thrive on the continental stage.

FC Samartex, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, will compete in the CAF Champions League against Cameroonian club Victoria FC. Meanwhile, Nsoatreman FC, the FA Cup champions, will face Chadian side Elect Sport FC in the CAF Confederation Cup.
