FIFA U20 Women’s WC: We won’t underrate Senegal, says Black Princesses coach Yussif Basigi

Black Princesses coach, Yussif Basigi has assured that the team will prepare adequately for the tie against Senegal this month.

The Ghana U20 Women’s national team will take on the Senegal U20 Women’s national team in a doubleheader showdown this month in the final round of the qualifiers for the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Speaking to the media team of the Ghana FA on the team’s preparations so far, Coach Yussif Basigi said everything is going well.

He stressed that his team won’t underrate Senegal and will work hard to overcome the opponent.

“Preparation is ongoing and now that the Ampem Darkoa Ladies players are in, we are putting the pieces together to raise a team out of the lot. It has been going well so far and we are not looking back because we know what it takes to qualify to the World Cup and we don’t need to take it lightly because Senegal is not a bad side and we won’t underrate them,” Yussif Basigi said.

The first meeting will take place at Stad Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal on Saturday, January 13, while the reverse fixture is scheduled for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
