Assistant Coach of the Black Satellites, Nii Odartey Lamptey has underscored the importance of the football tournament at the 13th African Games.

According to him, the tournament provides a great platform for young players to market themselves.

“We were not happy with the draw in our last game so we spoke with the boys and we were ready to go all out today.

“We told them what is at stake and the opportunity this competition offers them. It’s a platform for young players to market themselves,” Nii Odartey Lamptey said on Tuesday night.

The former Black Stars attacker was speaking in a post-match interview after the Ghana U20 men’s national team defeated the Gambia U20 national team.

The win was the first for the Black Satellites in Group A after drawing goalless with Congo in their first match.

In the final group game of the tournament, Ghana’s Black Satellites will take on Benin on Friday, March 15.
