Former Ashanti Gold forward Yaw Annor confirms nationality switch to play for Togo

Former Ashanti Gold striker Yaw Annor has confirmed that he has opted to switch his international eligibility to Togo.

The 24-year-old has been named in Togo squad for the upcoming September friendlies against Cote d'Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.

Togo will face Cote d'Ivoire on September 24, 2022 in Paris, France before taking on Equatorial Guinea three days later in Morocco capital Casablanca.

"Yes I have received a call up from the Togolese Federation to feature in the friendlies for the " Hawks" against Equitorial Guinea and Ivory Coast form the 19th to the 27th of this month" Annor told Hot FM.

"I will say YES because my mum comes from Togo and my dad from here in Ghana and that makes me eligible to play for any of the two countries."

Annor is eligible to represent the West African country through his Mother who is a Togolese.

He was one of the standout players for Ashgold last season, scoring 22 goals in 30 appearances.

Annor joined Egyptian side Ismaily SC from the Miners on a five-year deal.
