Former Kotoko and Karela United midfielder Umar Bashiru helps Ethiopia Nigd Bank to win first-ever silverware
Former Asante Kotoko and Karela United midfielder Umar Bashiru has clinched the 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League title with Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
The league title triumph is the first-ever silverware for Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
Bashiru was instrumental for his outfit in the recently concluded season. He racked up seven goals in 30 appearances.
The former WAFA midfielder served an assist on the final day as his outfit cruised to a 2-0 win over Ethiopian Insurance.
The win against Ethiopian Insurance secured the title for Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
Ethiopia Nigd Bank, also known as CBE-Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, won the league with 64 points; a one-point ahead of Mechal Sports.
They gained promotion just this season but managed to shock stellar clubs like St George, Ethiopia Coffee, former champions Fasil City and Hadassah.
