In a recent interview on the Ernest Brew Smith Show on YouTube, former Real Tamale United (RTU) player, Kwame Danger, debunked the popular notion that Hearts of Oak is the only Ghanaian club to have represented the country in international matches.

Danger, who played for RTU in the 1980s, revealed that the Northern-based club also had the opportunity to represent Ghana in 1985, against Canada, Korea, and Burkina Faso.

He narrated that in 1985, RTU was selected to represent the Black Stars in Korea. The team was reinforced with two players, Ben or Dan Akahedey, for the tournament.

"85 we also represented Black Stars in Korea they added Ben or Dan Akahedey they were two and they added another one to the team and we went to Korea in 85. The first match we played Canada I scored two goals but the referee dismissed one as offside I didn't understand because I scored the first goal," he said.

"The second goal a corner was played and I hit the ball and the referee whistled for offside I didn't know why it was ruled out for offside. We were beaten 2-1 and we played the second match we were beaten in that match too so we played two games. We also represent Ghana in Burkina Faso that time Ntow Gyan and others were playing for RTU," he added.
