Technical Director of KRC Genk, Dimitri De Conde has opened up on why the club was confident in the summer transfer window that Ghana international Joseph Paintsil would stay at the club.

According to him, the talented attacker in all conversations with club officials made it clear that he was happy at the Belgian Pro League club.

He said Joseph Paintsil informed the club that he is not enticed by the Southampton interest.

“Joseph had indicated in several conversations that he feels good here and does not see Southampton as the next step in his career,” Genk Technical Director Dimitri De Conde said.

Joseph Paintsil, 25, was the subject of a lot of transfer stories in the summer transfer window.

His stellar performance for KRC Genk last season raised his stock, as several top clubs expressed interest in his services.

He opted to stay at KRC Genk and is hoping to help the club lift the 2023/24 Belgian Pro League title at the end of the season.
