Georgia: Samuel Inkoom predicts a tougher league in 2020

Published on: 01 June 2020

Ghanaian fullback Samuel Inkoom has predicted a tougher competition this season after the format of the Georgian top flight league was changed.

The competition is set to return on June 25th but the format has been altered for the 10 participating clubs. 36 match days were the norm but that has been slashed to half (18) due to the impact of the coronavirus. The showcase has been scheduled to end in November.

In his interview with Owuraku Ampofo on Joy News, he predicted that the competition will be tougher but he aims to win the coveted trophy with his club, Samtredia.

“I think [the new format] is going to be for me one of the hardest ways now because we had to play 36 games including the Georgian cup as well but now everything has changed and we are supposed to finish the league in November."

"I believe that the league is going to be interesting to be honest because everybody will want to be a champion and our goal is to become champions so it is going to be tough but let’s see how it goes.”
