The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Gideon Fosu to take charge as chairman of the Black Princesses management committee.

The confirmation of the appointment was announced by the FA on Wednesday, January 3.

“Executive Council Member Gideon Fosu has been appointed to serve as Chairman of the Black Princesses Committee. He replaces Linford Asamoah Boadu who chaired the Committee for three years and lead Ghana to another FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in 2022.

“Gideon Fosu is the Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Division One League Kings Palace FC and also heads the Centralized Operations Unit (payment) of Ghana Commercial Bank.

“He is expected to bring his expertise on board in ensuring that Ghana qualifies for the next FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia,” a statement from the GFA said.

It noted that Western Regional Football Association Chairman Simon Ehomah will serve as Vice Chairman of the Committee.

The committee must provide support for the Black Princesses to succeed in the final round of the qualifiers for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

The Ghana U20 women’s national team will face off with their Senegalese counterpart this month in a two-legged contest.

The first meeting will take place at Stad Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal on Saturday, January 13, while the reverse fixture is scheduled for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
