Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku has become a surprising transfer target for French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, despite his impressive start at Fenerbahce.

Alexander Djiku, 29, joined the Istanbul-based club last summer and has thrived under the guidance of Jose Mourinho. His impressive debut season saw him play a crucial role in 36 games, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

According to French publication L'Equipe, Stade Rennais is eager to acquire the services of the former Strasbourg defender, reportedly willing to offer around €10 million for his transfer. Djiku, who previously excelled in Ligue 1, is said to be open to a return to France.

However, Fenerbahce appears reluctant to part ways with the Ghanaian star, who has been instrumental in the team’s strong pre-season performance.

Alexander Djiku's current market value is estimated at €9 million, according to Transfermarkt. The coming weeks will reveal whether Stade Rennais can secure the signing of this formidable defender.
