Ghana football legend Dan Owusu has called on government to offer support to Ghanaian clubs that plays in Africa.

His comment comes following Dreams FC’s remarkable performance in this year's CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Dreams FC defied all odds to secure a historic qualification to the semifinals but unfortunately fell short to Zamalek.

In recent times, Ghanaian clubs have struggled to raise money for African campaigns. As a results, some clubs have refused to participate in Africa due to the money involved.

Speaking in an interview with Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com, Dan Owusu, the three-time Ghana Premier League goal king pleaded with government to support Ghanaian clubs in Africa competitions.

“Playing in Africa is costly. But it worrying government is unable to support Ghanaian clubs in Africa. When a team qualifies for Africa, the team represents Ghana as a whole. I think it's time government throws support by financing clubs who qualifies for Africa henceforth.

He continued that, “The clubs suffer a lot because the only source of income is from player sales. People have lost interest in the game of late considering how things are going. Playing in Africa is all about money so it hard time the government support the teams”
