Ghana named host for WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Cup of Nations tournament in May

The 2024 WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Cup of Nations tournament will be hosted by Ghana.

This has been announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

“Accra, the capital city of Ghana, has been voted by WAFU Zone B as the host city for the 2024 U-17 Boys Cup of Nations in May.

“The WAFU Zone B Championship will also serve as qualifiers for the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations,” a statement issued by the Ghana FA said on Tuesday, March 26.

The 2024 WAFU Zone B Boys Cup of Nations tournament will feature host Ghana, defending Champions Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, and Niger.

The Black Starlets would aim to excel at the tournament to secure a ticket to the 2024 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Head coach of the Black Starlets, Laryea Kingston’s side has been in camp preparing for the competition, which is expected to take place from May 15-29, 2024, in Accra.

Meanwhile, the Starlets will travel to Russia next month to participate in a four-nation tournament.

The Ghanaian team will participate in the competition together with host Russia, Serbia, and Kazakhstan in an all-play-all format.

The tournament will help the Starlets prepare for the WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Cup of Nations tournament.
