Ghana Premier League matchday 14 report: Ansong's double not enough as Liberty lose to Inter Allies

Published on: 12 March 2020

Liberty Professionals fell to a marginal 3-2 loss to Inter Allies despite heroics from George Ansong at the Carl Reindolf park on Thursday.

Inter Allies started well in this game and deservedly went ahead in the 24th minute. Samuel Armah was unmarked in the penalty box following a corner and the midfielder tucked the ball in.

The Capella boys made it two just a minute later with the prolific Victorien Adebayor finding the net this time from close range. Adebayor has taken his tally in the competition to 12 goals now, at least one ahead of everyone else.

Liberty were not down however and got back into the game thanks to George Ansong in the 41st minute. Despite the efforts of the hosts, Inter Allies went into the break with the lead.

In the second half, the hosts showed more fire and got their reward just two minutes after the hour mark. George Ansong got his brace following an excellent build up play from Mubarak Alhassan and Elvis Kyei Baffour.

Inter Allies got another opportunity to go ahead after they were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute but Adebayor's shot was saved by Ganiwu.

The match looked set for a draw but Mohammed Zakari settled it for Inter Allies with a goal in the 90th minute.

Inter Allies are now 10th on the log with 19 points and Liberty drop to 13th with 16 points.
