Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah returns to RB Salzburg after loan spell

Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah has returned to his parent Red Bull Salzburg following a loan spell with Zulte Waregem in Belgium.

Mensah was a key cog of the Jupiler Pro League side, making 23 appearances and scoring three goals before the league was cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic.

Following his exploits with Zulte Waregem, several clubs have expressed interest in signing the highly-rated left-back including Anderlecht and Genk.

His value is said to have shot up to €2.7m.

The 21-year-old has made two appearances for the Black Stars of Ghana during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe

He moved to Austria in 2016 to join FC Liefring, the youth side of Red Bull Salzburg and has since been loaned to Sturm Graz and LASK Linz.
