Ghanaian midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh is determined to be fit for the upcoming season after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

According to a report by Badische Zeitung, the 28-year-old SC Freiburg player is optimistic about his recovery and hopes to at least train with his team when the season begins.

The Black Stars midfielder joined SC Freiburg in 2022 from St Pauli on a free transfer.

Kyereh has been out of action for around one and a half years due to a cruciate ligament tear, his second such injury in his left knee. The initial prognosis estimated a year-long recovery, but his return has taken a few months longer. Reflecting on his recovery, Kyereh said, "It's been a few months longer now. Of course, I would have liked it to go faster. But when the knee says it needs a break, it drags on."

Despite the prolonged recovery, Kyereh's spirits remain high. He mentioned that his knee feels better than ever, and his mental state is strong, thanks in part to the support from SC Freiburg. The club has ensured a stress-free environment for his rehabilitation.

Kyereh's current focus is on transitioning from rehab to training. "It's not far off. I want to be fit again by the start of the season and be able to train with the team," he stated. At the training camp in Schruns, his session includes team activation and cycling, indicating clear progress compared to his earlier rehab stages.
